Bear Rears Make a Fun and Unique Addition to My Christmas Tree

Happy summer!

I haven't been very good about posting here.  I'm surprised I can remember how :)  So here I go...... Seems like a good time for a little Christmas in July:)

My plan each Christmas is to come up with at least one new idea to include in my Christmas decorations. Last year I wanted to add something unusual and fun,  so I came up with the idea of climbing bears for my main tree. I really wanted them to look as if they were climbing up the tree in search of honey or some other tasty treat.  Since only the back of them would show in the tree, I made their rear ends only. I had one on each side of my tree competing for the honey at the top of the tree.   .

Brown bears seemed like a good choice since I live in  Minnesota  and they can be found here.  Black and white bears would be fun as well. It always depends a little on what materials I can find.

These bears are pretty good sized and I am hoping to make some smaller ones as well.  Creating them with only the bottom half makes it easy to nestle them in the branches.  The design includes ties at the base for attaching to the trunk of the tree.    Once they are tied to the tree, the legs can be arranged.

I hope you enjoy them.  Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think or what great Christmas ideas you have had.

I'm extremely excited to find some new great velvet colors.  I know, we are still waiting for spring, but I'm trying to get better about staying ahead of the game.  These velvets are maroon, gray, pumpkin and gray.   They will make great pumpkins and stockings.

New Spring Slip Covers

I was lucky enough to find this great decorator fabric some time ago.   After some thought of how I would use it,  I decided on a new slipcover for my loveseat.  The menswear inspired pinstripe gave me just the look I was wanted.

I love updating and reusing things I already have.  What a great way to give little face-lift to a room just in time for spring.    Now to find time to make the burlap drapes I have planned:)

Colors of Fall

Greetings!
Summer has gone quickly, but as much as I love it, I do enjoy fall. Especially the last few beautiful days we have had. The leaves are beginning to turn and their colors inspired me to make a variety of pumpkins for my Etsy shop. Some I have kept and displayed in a metal basket on my dining room table setting a new mood for the season.
Enjoy the colors of fall while they are here.
Happy Fall!

Almost Time to Say Goodbye to Summer

Summer days are getting shorter reminding us that fall is not far away. While summer will be missed, it is a great opportunity to switch things up a bit around my house. (Don't tell my husband... he thought we were done decorating a year after we moved in)
Thinking of color themes, rounding up objects around the house, possibly picking up a new item or two to complete the plan is half the fun. As exciting as it is, I will wait until September to make these changes. (After all, I am still enjoying summer and will miss it when it's gone).
Here is a picture of my dining room and how it's decorated for summer. Come September I will post my fall look.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday!
I am so happy to have great summer weather, but have been working on winter projects.
Just finished some Christmas stockings. Here is a one of them for a bit of Christmas in August. You will find this one and more in my Etsy shop.

Happy Summer!

Greetings!
Summer is passing by quickly. I'm savoring it as I know it won't be long before the cold of winter returns.
In honor of summer, I have made a cheery, summer purse. It is created from a mint-condition vintage table cloth and features beaded handles as well as a long removable.
Enjoy your summer and, hopefully, my new purse will keep that summer feeling around for a while.
